Dr. WhiteÕs Principles

Empower and challenge students as they move through the highly unique process of vocal growth and development.

Explore new territory and to build upon fundamental principles of healthy voice use.

Understand ways of communicating not only with words but with sounds.

Voice Lessons

In the initial one-hour lesson, Dr. White will conduct a 15-minute interview to assess the studentÕs vocal background.  He will then vocalize the student on variety of exercises suited to their voice type for approximately 15 minutes followed by the student singing a prepared piece becoming more familiar with their vocal needs.  After the lesson, a vocal evaluation will be written and a list of recommended exercises and repertoire will be given to the student.

Vocal Master Classes

As most vocalists know, a perspective other than oneÕs own voice teacherÕs can sometimes bring a Òbreak-throughÓ in oneÕs vocal progress.  Dr. WhiteÕs master class goals include:

¥ providing a relaxed and friendly format,

¥ giving the student confirmation of something already known and the knowledge of something new,

¥ improving awareness and knowledge of the myriad sounds of the voice and

¥ education not only the performer but the invited audience as well

Choral Master Classes

Dr. WhiteÕs educational background, paired with his time in Chanticleer, has given him a deep understanding of choral techniques including proper breathing, warm-up exercises, stage presence, interpretation, diction to vocal health and proper posture.  His master classes are tailored to the individual needs of each ensemble ranging from High School to professional.  These master classes are meant to enhance the choral experience for the ensemble by bringing another perspective to music-making.  In a 90 minute session your ensemble will:

¥ warm-up, both vocally & physically,

¥ sing through 2 or 3 prepared pieces,

¥ work through those pieces, and
